I live in downtown Minneapolis, near the Stone Arch walking bridge, which is one of my favorite places to walk. But I don’t walk there now—too many people on foot and on bicycle. I can’t keep my distance.
But the downtown streets are mostly empty—with stores and restaurants shuttered. The university is quiet too. It’s sad and ghostly.
Pollution is way down in cities all over the world…fewer cars… no factories churning smoke…no smog… But hardly any people are on the streets to breathe in the clean air.
The streets are safe this spring for salamanders, frogs and turtles. In spring, amphibians meander across roadways to lay their eggs. Without traffic on the roads now, salamanders and frogs are flourishing.
