We are living in a difficult and uncertain time.

My heart goes out to the many millions all over the world who are truly suffering–with lost lives and lost livelihoods

My husband and I are more-or-less quarantined . We don’t go shopping or to any public gatherings. The library is closed. We wear masks when we go out for exercise.

We are dependent on many others who are at risk themselves. They shop for us, work at the library so we can get e-books, manage our mail…

I am very aware how lucky we are. We live in a lovely and large apartment. Our refrigerator and cupboards are full of good food. At our age, we are especially at risk—but, so far, we are okay. We are cloistered inside—but ours is a gilded cage.
