CELEBRATING LOVE February is the month to celebrate love—Valentine’s Day. It’s a time to send red roses or candies in heart-shaped boxes or cards that gush with sweet sentiments. |
My husband and I are lucky. We’ve been together for a very long time—almost six decades. We’ve been married for 55 years. And we still like each other most of the time. We love seeing each other when we get up in the morning and kissing each other goodnight. We support each other in the in-between times. We critique one another’s work, give advice (when asked), and share our good times and bad. To celebrate our love, I wrote a book about us. It’s called GROW OLD WITH ME and it’s a little sweet and a little whimsical. It’s a real story of a long and happy marriage. GROW OLD WITH ME would make a nice Valentine’s gift to send to someone you love–maybe instead of candies or flowers… I was interviewed recently by Pat Lynch on Women’s Radio. She asked me, “What makes a good marriage?” I’ve thought a lot about that. Of course, commitment, communication, and humor are all important. But for us, there’s something more. As we’ve grown older, we’ve learned that life is fragile. We are grateful for one another. Here’s our secret: We treasure each other. *** You can listen to the interview here: https://www.womensradio.com/2021/02/are-you-new-at-being-old/ |
