I am an author, artist and social scientist and have won awards for all of these.
My most recent books are: The Journalist: Life and Loss in America’s Secret War (Spark Press, 2020), Grow Old With Me (Temuna Press, 2019), and I’m New at Being Old (Temuna Press, 2010).
Launching my art career at age 60, I taught myself to paint upside-down, inside-out and backwards on hand-blown glass. My glass artworks tell stories in shimmering colors.
I had a 25-year career as a social scientist, with a specialty in the study of aging. I wrote books and articles, taught courses, and directed studies. The Gerontological Society of America honored me as a Fellow for “outstanding achievement and exemplary contributions to the field of aging.”
My art has been in more than 100 exhibits and is on permanent display in private collections and public institutions. Twin Cities Public Television featured me in two documentaries: The Creative Power of Aging and Life Changing Art
